Jewellery for Insect Conservation

post-image

Dragonfly and beetle conservation is critically underrepresented in both media and conservation initiatives, even as their populations decline at alarming rates. As they are bioindicators, these insects reflect the health of entire ecosystems, yet they receive only a fraction of the attention and funding directed towards more popular species.

My goal is to address this by raising awareness and generating support for insect conservation through a range of handcrafted metal, acrylic, and wooden jewellery inspired by dragonflies and beetles.

I am looking for supporters with experience in innovative, sustainable materials and production methods.

Hi there Leo

This episode - S2E1: Biomimicry with Janine Benyus & Dayna Baumeister https://www.thersa.org/podcasts/regeneration-rising/  would be a good one for your design.

This is a thoughtful and timely idea. Using jewellery to raise awareness of insect conservation is a creative way to spotlight species that are often overlooked, despite their importance to the environment and our own wellbeing.

Could you strengthen the impact by connecting the jewellery to real conservation action? For example, pieces could link to citizen science activities or conservation efforts, helping people move from awareness to participation. Projects like Guardians of Earth show how action-based and even gamified approaches can support biodiversity:
